Basic Requirements for ALL Offshore roles:

  • OPITO Offshore certification
  • Seaman’s Discharge Book (preferred)
  • STCW and other offshore certifications
  • Vaccination Book (COVID + Yellow Fever)
  • ID card
  • Passport
  • Undergo a Drug & Alcohol screening and full medical for TB, OGUK and ENG1


Key Responsibilities

Roustabouts are tasked with several responsibilities that are central to operational success. Primary duties include the setup and maintenance of equipment, handling materials, and ensuring cleanliness and order on work sites. They are also responsible for:

  • Assembling and repairing oil field machinery and equipment.
  • Facilitating the transportation of goods and equipment to and from the worksite.
  • Cleaning spillages and ensuring that the worksite complies with safety regulations.
  • Guiding cranes to move loads about the deck.
  • Performing general maintenance such as painting, repairing, and securing work areas.
  • Assisting skilled workers with projects (e.g., electricians and welders).
Daily activities are physically demanding and often conducted in various weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.

Education and Certification Requirements

  • Deck-Rating preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Safety training specific to the industry such as HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) for offshore roles.
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET).
  • Certifications in handling hazardous materials or operational safety standards.
