Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Warehouse workers perform a variety of tasks that together ensure the warehouse operates smoothly and that customer satisfaction goals are met. Primary responsibilities include:
- Receiving, checking, and storing incoming goods.
- Picking, packing, and dispatching outgoing goods.
- Maintaining inventory control, ensuring no discrepancies in stock levels.
- Operating warehouse machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely.
- Ensuring the warehouse environment remains clean, tidy, and safe.
- Conducting regular inventory audits and reporting any stock issues or discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor.
- Loading and unloading goods from delivery trucks or containers.
- Labeling goods stored in the warehouse for easy inventory tracking and retrieval.
- Preparing shipping documents and handling logistics details for outgoing shipments.
- Inspecting inventory for damages and reporting these to management.
- Following health and safety guidelines and company-specific warehouse procedures.
- Assisting in the coordination of logistics and supply chain operations within the warehouse.
Qualifications and Skills required:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a warehouse setting, which may be preferred or required depending on the employer.
- Certifications in operating heavy machinery, such as a forklift operator license
- Basic Fire Safety training
- Skills in inventory software or databases can also benefit potential candidates.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects
- Strong teamwork skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- OSHA training course completion is a distinct advantage
